15 Best Travel Sites to Save Money

March 2, 2015

I have compiled a list of the 15 BEST travel sites to Save Money. After traveling to over 50+ countries, these travel sites have saved me thousands of dollars over the years. All the companies listed here are ones I use when I travel. In my opinion they are the best and that is why I use them. Click on the headers for the link:

1.) Expedia

Expedia is a industry leader for flights, hotels, cruises and vacation packages. They have a pretty cool loyalty program that can provide some great benefits for future travel.  Expedia is worth checking out and you’ll save a lot of money by booking hotels and flights together.

2.) TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor is world’s largest travel site, they have great deals on everything from flights to hotels. I love the way they arrange reviews for “Things To Do” in each city. This gives you user reviews for the best things in every city. Tripadvisor also has a huge active community that can help answer practically any travel concerns.

3.) HostelWorld

HostelWorld offers the biggest selections of Hostels and Guesthouses in the world. They have a great interface and the phone app is perfect for traveling. Currently the site doesn’t charge any booking fees which make it one of the best sites to book hostels and guesthouses.

4.) Priceline

Maybe Hostels aren’t your style. Priceline is my favorite and an awesome bidding site for Hotels where you can save a ton of money. Save up to 60% on Hotels & 40% on Flights.

5.) Bus2Alps

Bus2Alps is a student & backpacker travel company that arranges  the best tours around Europe. If you want to take a trip with informative guides, like minded fun people and travel on a budget this is the tour company for you! After traveling with a lot of companies in Europe, Bus2Alps is by far the best. If you use the gift code “SWIGMEETSWORLD” you will get 5% off any tour! This is an exclusive gift code for my readers.

6.) Booking.com

If you don’t like the bidding aspect of Priceline then Booking.com is your best bet. This is a site I have used all over Europe and all of the experiences and hotels have turned out great!

7.) Viator

This is the best site to book tours, they offer 10,000+ tours & activities worldwide. If you want to save money and have a guided tour or just want to find some cool things to do, Viator is your best option.

8.) Skyscanner

SkyScanner is the BEST for discount flights worldwide since the site searches smaller less known airlines. The site also offers some other great features, my favorite is to select your Outbound City or “To” City as “Everywhere.” Basically this lets you see the cheapest flights to “Everywhere” from your origin city. It is perfect for snagging a cheap flight when you’re not sure where to go!

9.) STA Travel

If you are a student you should definitely check out the discounted flights on STA Travel. They have a ton of travel deals for students, right now you can get some flights to Europe under $600.

10.) CouchSurfing

Want FREE accommodation, but more importantly a great local experience? There is a couch waiting for you. Couchsurfing allows for you to stay free of charge on a persons couch. It is a really great service and one I recommend for any type of traveler.

11.) World Nomads Travel Insurance

World Nomads has the best travel insurance by far. Travel insurance covers more than just some health problems you might have abroad. It can cover stolen belongings, flight cancelation or natural disasters. World Nomads is recommended by Lonely Planet and National Geographic and many other travel companies. Click Here to get a quote.

12.) Agoda

If you are traveling in Asia then this is the best site to find hotels, hostels and guesthouses. There is a huge selection thousands of hotels. This is a great alternative for finding accommodation and the site also offers some good deals on tours or activities.

13.) AirBnB

AirBnB has revolutionized the way accommodation is being booked worldwide. The site lets almost anyone rent out their spare room, apartment or accommodation. This system creates a huge supply of places to stay worldwide and gives travelers a great alternative to overpriced hotels. Use THIS link for a $25 credit on your next trip!

14.) AirFareWatchdog

AirFareWatchdog is a great site for finding some of the cheapest sales on flight tickets. If you are looking to take a spontaneous trip make sure you follow them on social media since they post some amazing spur of the moment deals. A lot of times these sales are very limited or a mistake by the airlines. Even when the airline makes a price mistake they often honor the price and this is how you can get some dirt cheap flight tickets!

15.) RailEurope

Riding trains can sometimes be overwhelming, luckily Rail Europe does a great job of making it simpler. This site is great for finding the train routes and times, but it is not always the lowest price. So make sure you check with the local train companies before you book!
