This week is a new segment I call Swig Eats World, I love to try new food and will try anything at least once. You can check out the first blog post in the segment which is about the 7 most bizarre foods I have tried. Todays post is all about fitness and reviewing the best healthy delivery service in Manila!
Let’s face it, traveling and being healthy are two hard things to achieve. Recently, I have been on a mission to eat a lot healthier and I found a delivery service that really helps! My work out regiment was always been pretty good, but my diet was all over the place since I was traveling so much. Getting in a routine is key, even if you are in a city for a week or so, you can always find time to hit the gym and eat healthy!
A few months ago I was in Vietnam and a friend recommended using a healthy delivery service, called Fit Food Vietnam. After the first few days I was hooked! The taste and quality of the food exceeded my expectations by a lot. I arrived in the Philippines about a month ago and decided to find out who has the best healthy delivery service in Manila!
Today I am going to review the 3 of the most popular services offered. Fitfood Manila, Gourmade by Chef Rob Lau and Happy Diet Delivery. I was shocked to see how many delivery services there are in Manila, there are probably over 20 businesses just in the healthy food niche. I really hope this trend continues to catch on worldwide.
Overview: How Healthy Delivery Services Work?
Each service varies, but all of the companies deliver precooked healthy meals directly to your home or office everyday. The meals are different every day and all of the services break down their meal options into different packages. For example, FitFood Manila offers a 1,200, 1,500 or 1,800 calorie options. If you are wondering what option is best for you, I highly recommend downloading (MyFitnessPal) and inputting your goals. The app will calculate how many calories a day you need to reach a certain weight in a time period. Since I have been lifting and swimming 5-6 days a week I opted for meals within the 1,500-1,800 calorie range since I need some extra energy for my workouts.
*Pro Tip- all of the delivery services package the food in microwave safe containers, but re-heating the food in a pan for a few minutes tastes significantly better!
Fit Food Manila Review
Fit Food Manila’s motto is “We count the calories, then make them delicious”
They offer 3 Meals + 2 Snacks for 5 Days. The meals are 1,200, 1,500 or 1,800 Calories and cost Php 1,850 ($40 USD) for 5 Days of food. The price of course increases for the more calories and there are some delivery fees depending on your area.
I had really high expectations for FitFood Manila since I REALLY loved FitFood Vietnam. Unfortunately, it turns out the only thing they had in common was a similar name. The food and overall service was not great and out of the four delivery services I have tried, Fit Food Manila was my least favorite. Fit Food Manila wasn’t terrible, but when compared to the other healthy delivery services it just didn’t compete.
My first complaint about Fit Food Manila was their payment method. They only wanted to allow a bank transfer. This is a big inconvenience when you don’t have a bank account in the Phillipines. Luckily, I convinced them to allow cash on delivery. I think it’s pretty crazy that none of the healthy delivery services offer an online payment method? It seems like it would make logistics so much easier for everyone.
When the first day of food arrived, I was not impressed. The packaging is nice enough, but the food did not look appetizing and the taste wasn’t much better. I only ordered 4 days of food. Hopefully, Fit Food Manila was just having a bad week since they seem to be quite popular. My favorite thing about their service is that they offer three meal plan options depending on your caloric intake. In conclusion, I would try other delivery services before trying Fit Food Manila. It is a competitive market and they didn’t impress me at all.

Gourmade By Chef Rob Lau Review
Gourmade By Chef Rob Lau was by far the best tasting experience of any of the food delivery services. Their business description is: “Chef Rob Lau is a well seasoned chef with almost 10 years of experience in international cooking from Emirates Palace Hotel in Abhudabi, Wynn Hotel Macau and Wynn Encore.” The food was delicious and so was the presentation. Rob Lau is all about portion control. The food might not be the healthiest, but if you limit the portions anything is okay. They have the belief that a calorie is a calorie, no matter what. So as long as you have small portions, eating a dessert can still be healthy. The meal plan was included with 3 main meals and 2 snacks. They recommend spacing out the meals and drinking lots of water when you are hungry.
Gourmade has a lot of options! They have a Skinny Down plan with a variety of meats and Pescatarian Plan with just fish, I opted for the Skinny Down 1500 calorie package and was really happy with the choice. Overall, I really enjoyed Gourmade, but I think some of the other delivery services are better for people exercising every day. Skinny Down Rates for 5 days meal plan: 1200 calories / Php2,000, 1500 calories / Php2,200, 1800 calories / Php2,600, 2000 calories / Php3,000 *Extra delivery cost not include

Happy Diet Delivery Review
Happy Diet Delivery was the healthiest (and happiest) option of all of the delivery services I tried. They describe themselves as: “Happy Diet Delivery is a premium gourmet diet delivery service. Our main goal is to serve healthy and organic dishes to our clients 5 days a week.”
Their motto “100% Healthy” is pretty spot on and I felt their service fit best with my overall lifestyle and workout routine. The packing and menus delivered each day were impeccable! The menu lists a very detailed healthy explanation for every meal and snack included. Just check out the detail for each meal, this was really interesting to learn a bit more about what you are eating and why it was healthy.
Every day was consistent and the food was always really good. The presentation was also really impressive and looked a lot nicer than any of the other services. The food comes in a nice bag and I liked their bright labels.
For Php 500/day or 2,500 Pesos a week ($53 per week) inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner, two snacks and delivery (1,200-1,400 calories).

Overall Score: 8.8
In conclusion, Happy Diet Delivery was my favorite, but Rob Lau was a close second. The two offer very different services and I can highly recommend both of them depending on what your preferences are.
Rob Lau is for the people who want to eat anything, but in small portions. Happy Diet is for the healthy conscious that want to limit sweets and only eat nutritious foods.
