Business Class on Cathay Pacific Review

October 24, 2015

Cathy Pacific is world famous for their First Class and Business Class. Some argue that it is the best in the world!

On my flight from Seoul to Hong Kong I was upgraded for free from Premium Economy to the Cathay Pacific Business Class. I WAS STOKED! I had booked a premium economy ticket using miles, so this made it even more satisfying.

It’s so funny how your mentality changes when getting upgraded to Business Class. Getting out of economy (aka peasant class) is like going from rags to riches in a matter of seconds. My aunt who is in the million airline mile club, (jokingly) calls economy “loser class” and there is a lot of truth to it. The service, the seats and overall experience are sometimes miserable. Crying babies, disgusting food and a bunch of strangers overcrowding your bubble can sometimes be tolling. Airlines intentionally flaunt you past Business Class so you can see what you’re missing out on and hopefully get you to upgrade in the future. I always book economy because I don’t mind it, but there have been times when I have dreamt of flying business class.

Luckily, that dream has come true twice on Korean Air and Cathay Pacific. I had never even flown with Cathay Pacific at the time of my upgrade. I was actually pretty stoked to begin with since I was going to experience “premium economy” for the first time. I approached the counter to check in and the stewardess mentioned that I had been upgraded. After she broke the news I was ecstatic!

My state of mind changed so much and I felt like I was walking on air. I floated my way over to the gate and waited to board early before the other passengers.IMG_2650

As soon as I boarded my seat I was greeted with a welcome glass of champagne and given the menu. They didn’t provide vanity kits, since it was a shorter flight, but that is pretty standard. The stewardess was all super kind. Normally Asian airlines usually have the best airline service. For example, Koreans go to Airline Stewardess Universities and the position is quite prestigious and competitive!

After I finished my wine I started to look through the menu and ordered a whiskey. This was going to be a fun flight! We were offered some snacks during this time and it was a small plate of nuts.

Shortly after, I was given another drink and the appetizers were brought out. The presentation was perfect and so was the taste. The first course consisted of fresh salmon, shrimp and garlic bread.

Cathay pacific Food Review

By far the best airline food I have ever eaten! The main course didn’t look as appetizing, but it was absolutely delicious. There were a few options for the main course and I chose the chicken breast with black truffle port wine sauce and think I made the right choice.

After the main course and another drink I was brought out a cheese platter and some seasonal fruit.

To finish off the meal they brought out Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream and I decided to pair it with a lovely glass of Baileys. Great choice!

Once the food was finished I opted to watch a TED talk and take a little snooze. Overall the service on Cathay Pacific was terrific. It certainly gave Korean Air’s business class a run for their money!
